University of Dundee, Dundee
Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Product Design – First Class with Honours
September 2018 – May 2022
My degree in Product Design taught me the theory and practical skills I need
to create products from conception to completion. I created various products
with an end-user in mind, and conducted research to ensure the suitability of
these. Most notably, I created an electronic device – Glo – to enable users to
take time out from their busy lives and practice meditation. My product was
found to encourage concentration and reduce stress. A summary of the skills I
learned at university is shown below.

Experience
Edinburgh Instruments, Livingston
Mechanical Design Engineer
July 2022 – Present
● Lead designer on a photonics team for 6 months, mainly working on a
£150,000 base system called RMS 1000.
● Worked on an incredibly customised illuminator project, creating over
30 new parts. Project was worth £360,000.
● Complete engineering change requests to metal parts to ensure
compatibility with current off-shelf components. I update drawings to
follow new standards and design new parts from scratch.
● 3D Printing for prototypes before getting the part manufactured for
sale.
Edinburgh Instruments, Livingston
Summer Internship
3 months each summer for 2019, 2020 & 2021
● Created database for screws
● Designed steel tables for holding heavy duty systems
● Created a steel trolley for holding 40kg gas canisters
● Quality Inspector on old assemblies, took undamaged parts and
assembled new structures to be sold on to customers.
● Drawing conversion from old vault system into the current one. This
included creating new drawings from a model and vice versa, even
converting hand drawings dating back to 1979.
